Yahoo Real-Time Link & MOM

We use the Yahoo! real-time link with MOM. This is supposed to be a relatively easy setup in MOM and it is--when you see the set up materials. However, you will find out really fast that importing orders from Yahoo! into MOM isn't that easy. You will need a secure site with SSL certificate and it must be able to handle .asp files. There is a lot to this setup that you have to figure out on your own. Of course, MOM either cannot or will not walk you through this process because they will only support their product. I could have never gotten this set up by myself. Luckily, I have a friend who is a professional IT guy and he helped us set it all up. Even now some data will not migrate into MOM like gift wrapping and customer messages. It sure beats manual uploads of orders, though.

  1. Have been thinking about adding this functionality. Now that you have real-time, despite the set-up issues, is it really "real-time" and does it make your daily processes easier? Also did you need to buy an extra module to set this up?

  2. I am in hell with MOM and I still can't get it working for my Yahoo store. Any idea how/where to find a IT guy in my area (miami, Fl) that I could hire to work with this? I do not even know how to find someone who could work with MOM or should I just look for an IT guy and he'll figure it out? The MOM people suck, simply suck! I really hate them but i either make this 3k investment work or i quit and take it as a (huge) loss at this point. I dont know if there's a better software for Yahoo stores out there, and i might be better off at this point not moving forward with MOM and getting the right solution. Any advice is MUCH appreciated.
Thank you and thank you for creating this blog and showing me I am not alone in this issue.

  3. I'm so glad you mentioned this. I've been thinking about buying this module to setup a second store promoting a certain line of our products. Can you post a screenshot of what the module's screen looks like while you're editing a stock item?

  4. I'm not sure how to start a new post, but let me at least get a comment on this site.
I was a MOM customer about 5 years ago and stopped using them for various reasons. About a year ago I started getting automated calls from "800 Service" telling me about the latest MOM products. Sometimes I would get 3 or 4 a day. If I don't answer, it goes to our message system and clogs up our machine. I have e-mailed them, made 6 - 8 calls, and begged them to take my name and number off their call list. Everyone promises to do so, but no one ever has. (What makes this most irksome is that they have my home number which I had given them at some point). I've gotten calls at 3 in the morning!! Anyone have any suggestions to get them to stop? I've tried blocking their calls, but for some reason maybe the 800 service number, that hasn't worked.
    Thanks, Steve

  7. Anonymous, The Yahoo! real-time link can be real time if you set it up that way. We push orders to MOM by clicking a button so we can see what orders are coming in and fix any issues with the orders. If an item code is not recognized by MOM it places a bogus item code that you have to set up for these problems. We want to make sure they are caught ahead of time. What you need to know is that MOM will not help you set this up. They will help you set it up on their side, but you need someone who can help you set up the intermediary secure site the orders are pushed to.
